Holiday Alcohol Consumption
As the Holidays approach and 2009 comes to a close, the San Marino Police Department wishes only the best for all our CLEARS recipients, all our community and our guests.
Unfortunately, the tragic death of an outstanding 17 year old South Pasadena High student this weekend is all too vivid a reminder of how a wonderful holiday can quickly and unintentionally turn terrible.
While the investigation is not yet complete, what has been reported in the paper is that an outstanding student and highly thought of young man who was only 17 years old was returning from a teenage party in Altadena where alcohol had been served. Given the close proximity it is likely some of our own children were at or aware of this very party. According to reports in the newspapers, alcohol appears to be a contributing factor to this young man¡¦s death.

It seems every year there are too many of these alcohol related tragedies. While the specifics may change, from drunk driving or some other form of over indulgence, the result is all to often the same ¡V something very bad happens.
Please take the time to read this article, grieve with this young man¡¦s family, count your blessings, hug your kids and have an honest talk with them about the dangers associated with alcohol abuse. |
